Fantastic project helps Jess Grant Celebration
Many congratulations to a fabulous team of young people who graduated from their National Citizen Service course today. Thank you so much for everything you’ve done for Jess’ charity and for inviting us to attend today’s award ceremony. As part of their NCS course, they undertook a community project, and Jess’ friend Sophia Bradley put forward Jess Grant Celebration to benefit from their efforts. During the project they created leaflets and raised awareness of Jess’ charity in Ipswich and Felixstowe. They also held sponsored events, including a fancy dress walk along the promenade in Felixstowe, to raise funds for Jess Grant Celebration. Today I may have shed a tear or two when we were presented with 5 ukeleles, all beautifully hand-painted by the team, for us to donate when providing musical instruments to support music therapy. They also raised enough money for us to buy promotional merchandise for Jess’ charity, which we will sell at JessFest and at future events. So, our wonderful logo, designed for us by our friends at CHP Design, will be getting the publicity it deserves very soon.

Treefest funding
We are delighted to announce that your fabulous fundraising efforts have meant we were able to support an amazing event today. TreeFest is a mini music and creative arts festival for the children and families that East Anglian Children’s Hospices (EACH) care for in Suffolk and North Essex. It is an opportunity to go to a festival that is completely accessible and tailored to meet a wide range of needs. We were invited to go along and to see how it had all been put together. Ray Travasso, Music Therapist at EACH, showed us around and introduced us to a number of the musical acts performing at TreeFest. These included The Stowmarket Strummers, a local ukelele band, who give up their time for free to play at EACH events. It was very interesting to be introduced to just some of the ‘junk’ instruments brought along by The Junk Orchestra. We got to hear the ‘fire extinguisherphone’, which was surprisingly tuneful. The ‘flipflopaphone’ was also played for us, and yes, flip flops were part of the instrument!
Jess would have loved today’s TreeFest, and would have been keen to have a go at playing all the instruments. It was lovely to see the children and families having fun listening to the bands and interacting with the instruments.
We know first hand just how much of an impact music can have on well-being and we have big plans to support music therapy at the hospitals and hospices that helped Jess through treatments. But, we can’t do this without your help. Our own music festival, JessFest, in celebration of Jess’ life and to raise funds for Jess Grant Celebration is approaching. Please get your tickets on the Events page.
Thank you x

Football fundraiser
Many thanks to Adam and Steva Cronin for raising a fantastic £222.20 for Jess Grant Celebration at the charity football match between Northam Celtic FC and Saxmundham Sports Ex 18’s. Adam, who manages the club Northam Celtic FC, had the idea to donate match ‘subs’ to Jess’ charity, and he and Steva also organised a raffle for after the game.
We joined them at Saxmundham Sports Club to cheer on the team, who played very well in the friendly Sunday League match against Saxmundham’s higher division team. It was fun watching all the action from the sidelines, and celebrating the goals with Adam and Steva’s family.
A huge thank you to both clubs for donating their ‘subs’ to Jess Grant Celebration. Thanks to everyone who donated prizes for the raffle and bought raffle tickets, to the staff at Saxmundham Sports Club, who opened up the bar for the charity match, and to the referee who waived his fee.

JessFest Early Bird tickets on sale
Early Bird tickets are now on sale! Please go to the Events page to find out more and purchase your tickets for the evening session of JessFest.

Music Quiz
What a fabulous night! Our first ever Jess Grant Celebration music quiz was a huge success raising a phenomenal £882 🙂 Thank you to everyone who supported the event and contributed so generously.
A big thank you to Barry Martin who did a brilliant job as quiz master, and put in hours of time and effort researching and compiling the questions and music clips. It really was an eclectic mix of tracks, and lovely to see so many people enjoying the music. Jess would have loved it.
Thank you to everyone who contributed prizes to the raffle. What started life as a random collection of prizes became something beautiful when Jo Palmer and Suzanne Gledhill offered to titivate (their word!) the prizes and create indulgent hampers. Many thanks for their creative ideas and hard work.
Kath Gosling did a sterling job collecting entry money, selling tickets and hosting the raffle. Thank you and we’ll be forever grateful for your introduction of ‘speed’ raffle to keep the night moving.
Jess Grant Celebration incurred no expenses for the event, with all the money taken on the night going directly to the charity to support music therapy. A huge thank you to our friends at Cedarwood Primary School, who helped with this, providing the venue free of charge.
So, what do you reckon? Same time, same place next year…?

Bingo Fundraiser
A massive thank you to Tina Yallop and Maxine Dawson at Eclipz hairdressers in Lakenheath, Suffolk for organising a fabulous bingo night, raising an incredible £1138 for Jess Grant Celebration. Tina and Maxine did a brilliant job of entertaining the 130 people who supported the event, held at Lakenheath football club. Their unique number calling provided much hilarity (seven and o, seventy-o!). Many thanks to Laura, Karen and Zoe, who also work at Eclipz hairdressers, to all the volunteers, and the staff at the football club for all their hard work on the night.
We are so grateful to everyone who attended the event, and to everyone who donated prizes, making it such a great night. Your generosity will enable us to raise the funds required to achieve our aims for the benefit of children with life-threatening illnesses. Every penny of the amazing total raised at the bingo fundraiser will be used to support music therapy.

Funding music events
We are excited to let you know that Jess Grant Celebration recently provided our first bit of funding to EACH (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices) for a music event. We supported the Ed Sheeran gig night for children and families at the Treehouse hospice.
Following a meeting with Music Therapist Ray Travasso at EACH in March, we committed to supporting gig nights and Treefest, an annual music festival at the hospice.
Jess Grant Celebration is looking forward to supporting EACH’s future music events.
Thank you so much for all your support x

Cake Sales Success
A year on from Jess’ Celebration Service, we came together again to celebrate Jess, eat cake and raise money for Jess’ new charity. In addition to our very well supported Cake Celebration at Kesgrave’s Millennium Jubilee Hall, Jess’ friend Laura arranged a bake sale at East Bergholt High School, our friend Ann held a cake sale at Gallagher Ipswich, and a number of friends had their own cake parties in honour of Jess.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the cake celebrations: baking; organising; helping on the day; coming along; buying and eating cake; making donations to Jess’ charity. We appreciate everyone’s support, and can’t thank you enough for helping to make Jess Grant Celebration’s first event so successful.
Very proud to announce that the Kesgrave Cake Sale raised a total of £546.75 & the East Bergholt High School bake sale raised £194.70. And more totals to be announced soon…
Cake Sale Friday 15th February
Thank you again to everyone who has supported Jess Grant Celebration in our first few weeks; the response has been amazing!
We now have a confirmed date and venue for our first event: Jess Grant Celebration Cake Sale Friday 15th February, 2.30pm – 4.30pm at Millennium Jubilee Hall, Kesgrave. A year on from Jess’ Celebration service, it will be an opportunity to come together again to celebrate Jess, eat cake and raise money for Jess’ charity!
We appreciate it’s a working/school day and many of you live in different areas of the country. So, we are inviting you to think about hosting your own coffee morning or cake sale at home, work, school etc for Jess Grant Celebration. It would be lovely to think of multiple cake-themed celebrations during that week.
