A massive thank you to Marcus Kwan and Rick Phillips who have raised over £2000 for Jess Grant Celebration from their Virtual London Marathon fundraising. Final total coming soon 😀
This is fabulous news for Jess’ charity, and Marcus and Rick’s brilliant fundraising is hugely appreciated. All the money they have raised will be used to help fund music therapy for children and young people: the wonderful Ipswich Hospital Music Therapy Service and Zest Music Days at St. Elizabeth Hospice ❤
Wow, thank you so much to Hannah Bradley, who has raised an amazing total of £1582.50 (£1410 in donations plus gift aid of £172.50) for Jess Grant Celebration through her London Marathon fundraising. We are so grateful to Hannah for choosing Jess’ charity to fundraise for when she discovered she had a coveted ballot place in this year’s marathon. All of the money Hannah has raised will be used to continue funding music therapy in Jess’ memory, for children and young people receiving care at Ipswich Hospital and Zest at St. Elizabeth Hospice.
A week today Marcus Kwan and Rick Phillips will be running in the ‘Virtual London Marathon’. It’s their first marathon and they are running the distance around a 4 lap route of Kesgrave and Martlesham. As in London, they will be starting their 26.2 miles at 9.30am and if you’re local you can come and add to the atmosphere by cheering them on (apparently you may be treated to Rick’s singing!). A huge thank you to Marcus and Rick for choosing to raise money for Jess Grant Celebration; all you are doing is greatly appreciated. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/marcus-rick-virtual-marathon

Thank you so much Tesco Community Grants and thanks to everyone who voted for us in store. Here is music therapist Daisy Williamson using the iPad we purchased for the Ipswich Hospital Music Therapy service. Daisy believes this will be a great asset and it will make a big difference in many of the music therapy sessions at the hospital.
On Friday, Jo Palmer and I were kindly invited to attend a Zest Music Day at St. Elizabeth Hospice. We felt very privileged to be able to take part in the music therapy session and to see first hand the enormous difference music therapy is making to the young people at Zest.
Martha, a work experience student spent last week in the Marketing team and wrote an article on Friday about Zest, specifically about the music therapy activity. Martha has captured music therapy and Jess Grant Celebration perfectly in her article at:-https://www.stelizabethhospice.org.uk/about-us/news/news-archive/zest-music-therapy-sessions-they-are-just-a-lot-of-fun-to-be-a-part-of/

“Daisy has provided videos of her music therapy sessions specifically for one of our paediatric oncology patients receiving cancer treatment.
This patient has special needs and requires additional support during many nursing interventions. She struggles to understand the reasoning behind the need for these.
Since Daisy has sent us these videos we have played them to this patient to help distract her. She has always responded well to music but these videos have made such a difference to her staying calm for nursing interventions. The use of Daisy’s music therapy has made treatment so much better and less distressing for both the patient and her mum.
She has also used these videos in school when nurses visit her and mum has not been present, which has made this a more positive experience.”
